Permit Requirements
Engineering permits, to be issued by the Engineering Division, are required for all construction activities within private property, dedicated public rights-of-way, and easements, including, but not limited to:- Curbing
- Drainage lines and structure
- Engineering activities
- Excavation
- Fill
- Light poles
- Parking areas
- Pavement markings
- Road construction
- Road cuts
- Sanitary sewer
- Sidewalks
- Swales
- Traffic signs
- Waterways
- Water distribution

Permit Processing
A minimum time period of two weeks is required for the processing of a permit application.
Permit Fee
The permit fee is 5.9498 % of the construction cost, or as specified otherwise in Sec. 6-16 of the City Code of Ordinances.
Clearing / Demucking / Fill / Demolition
The permit fee is 2.9749 %
Other Fees
The following fees, if applicable, must be paid prior to the process of this permit application:
- Engineering Plan Review: - $1,894.16 lump sum
Paving & Drainage Plan Review $ 947.08 and / or Water & Sewer Plan Review $ 947.08
Note: Permit fees are subject to Consumer Price Index.
Drawings & Specifications
(*) sets 24" x 36" and (*) sets 11" x 17" of drawings and specifications, sealed and signed by the design engineer, which have already been reviewed and approved by the City/County/State, Health and Rehabilitative Services, Department of Environmental Protection, South Florida Water Management District, South Broward Drainage District, and other applicable review agencies. All approvals must be within a maximum period of 12 months preceding the date of issuance of the permit.

Performance Bond
A performance bond in the amount of 110% of the construction cost, is needed to ensure engineering construction as planned.
Construction Contract
A copy of the construction contract which shows the breakdown of all quantities and cost of the project should be attached with the permit application.
License Qualifications
Up-to-date and valid licenses, registrations, certifications and insurances will be submitted with each application.
Pavement Cuts
This permit does not cover any pavement cuts on any existing roads, swales, or sidewalks in public rights-of-way. A separate permit must be applied for for such activities.
Pre-Construction Meeting
The pre-construction meeting should be scheduled prior to issuance of the construction permit. Once all documentation required has been received and approved.
Code of Ordinances
All construction to be performed under a permit must conform to the requirements of the City's Code of Ordinances. The City's Code of Ordinances shall supersede the approved plans and specifications.
