I
am honored to be the elected City Commissioner for
District 3 in the "All American City" of Pembroke Pines.
The district is the northwest quadrant of the City which
generally runs from Hiatus Road on the east to U.S. 27
on the west and from Pines Boulevard on the south to the
City Boundary on the north.
District 3 is a very diverse area. There are families
representing many nationalities, races and faiths.
Although its approximately 42,000 residents live in
basically suburban neighborhoods, there is a significant
population who live in a condominium or a more rural
setting in the northwest portion of the District. The
common thread that unites the residents is the desire to
keep Pembroke Pines a beautiful City that offers the
optimum of dependable community services.
Our Police and Fire Departments continue to maintain
their excellent ratings. The demand for excellent
educational opportunities for our children, as well as
adults, continues to be met, whether through our
nationally acclaimed Charter School System or through
the Broward County Public School System. Our City's
Recreation Department continues to improve programs, as
we continue the search for more open space for our
children to play and exercise. Cultural events such as
the jazz concerts at the William B. Armstrong Dream
Park, the Art Festival at the Academic Village, the many
plays and variety shows that are performed at the Susan
B. Katz Theatre or at Walter C. Young Jim Davidson
Theatre or the various art show openings that are held
at the Glass Gallery in City Hall, are enjoying a
significant increase in popularity. Our Senior Services
are unparalleled.
As I campaigned last summer, some of the major issues
that the residents spoke of were maintaining our
excellent quality of life, improving our traffic flow
problems and making sure that City Hall is as accessible
as responsive as possible to our residents. I encourage
you to contact me with your comments. By communicating
well with all of you, I will be better able to represent
you. Together we will make a difference!
Sincerely,
Iris Siple, Commissioner
City of Pembroke Pines,
District #3
