According to 2012 U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the City of Pembroke Pines has a population of 160,306, making it the second most populous city in Broward County, the 11th most populous city in the state of Florida, and the 157th most populous city in the United States. 

Pembroke Pines has a median household income of $61,873 and over 61,000 housing units. Statistics show the median age of the City is 39.5 years of age and nearly 25% of the population is under 18 years old. The City is diverse with approximately 40% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino and 20% identified as Black or African American.

The City has a total area of 34.4 square miles spread east and west between the Florida Turnpike and US 27.
