As Mayor, and on behalf of your City Commission, I would like to warmly welcome you to the great City of Pembroke Pines.

This City was incorporated in 1960 and has grown to become the second largest City in Broward County and the eleventh largest City in the entire State of Florida. Pembroke Pines is a full service municipality.

The administrative philosophy of the City has been conservative in the use of fiscal resources yet provided funding for a level of service second to none. Our current operating millage rate of 4.4312 is one  of the lowest in the County yet the City has an outstanding Police Department and a Class I rated Fire Department which allows for lower property insurance rates for our citizens and businesses.

Our varied parks and open space assets allow our citizens to enjoy multiple recreation programs ensuring a high quality of life. The City has a nature preserve with nearly 500 acres of wetlands complete with nature walkways which showcase native Floridian plants and wildlife.

Pembroke Pines operates the largest municipal charter school system in the United States educating 5200 hundred students from K through 12 grades. The Charter Schools also have partnerships with Broward County Community College, Florida International University, and Broward County Community Library.

Our Academic Village Campus also has the Susan Katz River of Grass Theatre showcasing and developing the fine arts. The Glass Gallery located at City Hall continually displays ever-changing works of art from the areas finest artists.

Currently, the City is well into the development of City Center, a 160 acre site centrally located within the City which will have open space preserves, retail and business amenities, a fine hotel, a new City Hall and a grand plaza designed for social and cultural events for all to enjoy. City Center will generate additional property tax revenues to this City supporting programs that provide the foundation for the great City of Pembroke Pines.

Welcome to our Great City.
