  13. VOLUNTEERS' TRIP TO THE VA NURSING HOME

    October 30, 2018, 10:15 AM - 12:15 PM

    The last Tuesday of each month, our dedicated group of SWFP volunteers travel to the Nininger State Veterans Nursing Home to socialize with clients, play games and provide activities. Join us in visiting these forgotten heroes that live in our city and listen to their stories; you'd be amazed of what they've gone through and experienced. Trips are provided by the Center will depart SWFP at 10:15 am and return at 12:15 pm.

    The City of Pembroke Pines is celebrating Florida City Government Week, October 22-28, 2018. Sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, this is a time to encourage residents to learn more about their municipal government, participate in city activities, raise public awareness about the services that cities perform and to educate the public on how city government works. As part of the celebration, the City will be hosting “Coffee with the Mayor,” featuring staff from city departments to answer questions and highlight programs, on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Charles F. Dodge City Center Pembroke Pines Opens a New Window. , located at 601 City Center Way. The theme is "My City: I'm Part of It, I'm Proud of It." Everyone is welcome to attend.   5. "Pre-Decorated" Pumpkin Carving Contest

    October 30, 2018, 6:00 PM - 8:15 PM @ The Charles F. Dodge City Center

    Get creative this Halloween Season and participate in the Pumpkin Carving Contest. Families are encouraged to bring in their “Pre-Decorated” pumpkins to B00-ville on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Charles F. Dodge City Center located at 601 City Center Way. Pumpkins must be carved, painted and decorated before the event. No moving props, no flames or candles, only battery tea lights permitted. Registration will take place between 6:00-6:20pm. All participants must provide a completed form. You must choose only one of the three categories. Funniest, Scariest or Most Original. Awards will be presented to the First, Second and Third Place winners in each category. Kids will also cast their votes for the “KIDS CHOICE AWARD” all winners will be announced at 8:00pm. All participants are responsible for taking home their pumpkins. Staff will not be responsible for pumpkins left behind. Please have them picked up by 8:45pm or they will be discarded.

  6. Boo-Ville Halloween Event

    Family fun is right around the corner this Halloween season. Hosted by the City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, the City’s Annual “Boo-ville” is taking place on Tuesday October 30, 2018 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Charles F. Dodge City Center located at 601 City Center Way in Pembroke Pines. Boo-Ville, with surprises at every turn, is a Halloween event that’s fun for all ages. Admission and Parking are free. Boo-Ville features pumpkin patches with hidden prizes, movies, a costume contest, trick or treat stations, arts & crafts, and many more fun activities. The Teal Pumpkin Project, a national campaign by Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), will designate non-food treats to children at Boo-Ville who have food allergies, and for those whom candy is not an option.
