The City of Pembroke Pines hosts and plays a role in a variety of community activities/events to raise funds for The Charter School Foundation, Pooches in Pines and Relay for Life. Residents are encouraged to participate in and enjoy these events throughout the year.
The Pines Light Up the Night 5K Run2018 will be held on Saturday, February 02, 2019 at the Charles F. Dodge City Center. Sponsored by Calvin Giordano & Associates, the proceeds from the 5K run will benefit the City of Pembroke Pines Charter Schools. Participants will receive a RUN/LED Light changing bracelet, free T-shirt or razor tank, and enjoy festivities after the run, which includ a DJ, Food Trucks, free dessert samples, and much more. Taste of Pines
Come and join us February 21st for the ten year celebration of the City of Pembroke Pines' Premier tasting event, Taste of Pines, from 6-9 pm! This best kept secret has been savored by food-lovers, restauranteurs and our residents alike for the past 10 years, being served by South Florida's culinary masters; so whether your palette craves the spices of the Caribbean or down-home American cooking, Taste of Pines is the event for you! This venue provides over 60 vendors so everyone's appetite is exceptionally satisfied; and just as how our guests savor the moment, the proceeds of this event go to our Charter Schools Foundation so our students can savor the success of educational funding. So in the spirit of our illustrious sampling event, we invite everyone to come out and eat, drink, and enjoy!The 17th Annual Pembroke Pines Charter School Golf Tournament was held on Friday, March 23,2018 Golf Tournament at the Pembroke Lakes Country Club, located at 10500 Taft Street, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mayor Frank C. Ortis and Waste Pro proudly present this Annual Pembroke Pines Charter School Golf Tournament which benefits the Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation.
Over the past 16 years, this event has raised over one million dollars thanks to the generosity of sponsors and golfers. It includes an 18- hole tournament, aputting contest, lunch, refreshments on ‘The Green,’ a cocktail reception with open bar, deluxe buffet dinner, prizes, a live auction and awards. Each player in the tournament also receives a $50 gift certificate from the Pro Shop. All proceeds from the Pembroke Pines Charter School Golf Tournament directly enhance each student’s educational experience through the Charter School Foundation.

The 20thAnniversary of Relay for Life of Pembroke Pines celebrated 20 years of hope on April 13, 2018 at 6 p.m. to April 14, 2018. The event took place at the Walter C. Young Middle School track, located at 901 NW 129 Ave. Over the years, the City has raised over two and half million dollars to fight cancer via this Relay for Life event. The Relay is an organized overnight community fundraising walk where teams of people camp out around a track and members of each team take turns walking around the track. There was entertainment, music, food and fun all night long that builds camaraderie in a family-friendly environment for the entire community.
